Veld clean up and potjie competition
After the success of the Lower Sharonlea veld clean-up that took place in March this year, the Sharonlea Action Group urged the community to get involved in another one on Saturday July 3, 2010.
This time they held a potjie competition while they worked. Five participants entered the competition and those who assisted with the clean up got a delicious free potjie lunch. There was a jumping castle to entertain the children!
Although the last clean-up was a success, wherein a vast amount of grass was cut and trees were cut back, they urged as many residents to get involved in this initiative as possible.
The amount of vagrants walking through the park since then has de-creased and they are creating a safer Sharonlea. They cleaned up along Beesvygie and Sterkbos streets in order to reduce the crime further.
