Attempted house robbery in Randburg

A Randburg resident writes:

Hi, this is to report that we narrowly escaped being held up in our own house in Randburg this Sunday afternoon just after 3pm. We heard our buzzer once but did not answer, as did not want to be disturbed by sellers.

A couple minutes later our alarm was triggered and we knew there was trouble. We after pressing the panic button we hid but we only took one cell phone in our haste and the battery was low.

There was only enough power to call Trojan to let them know we were at home and to please help us. After that we waited not knowing if burglars were in our house and hoping they would not find us.

After a long wait we looked out and saw a police woman and I knew we were saved. We found out that the burglars did not gain entry to our house even though we saw them (two guys, one was a large built guy wearing a red shirt) enter our property after breaking the railing on our electric gate.

We are so thankful to the rapid response team and Trojan for helping us and making sure we were safe before leaving even though they waited for a long time for us to make our appearance.

We know we have been lucky to escape with our lives and not to have been directly held up.
We think this is largely due to our alarm always being activated and early warning beams.
