SAPS Randburg weekly crime briefs March 5 to 12

Armed robbery:

Bryanston: On Wednesday March 10, 2010, at approximately 8.25am, a man was climbing out of his vehicle where he parked it in Sloane Street. He was approached by two unknown males who pointed a firearm at him.
They demanded his jewellery and laptop before forcing him to lie down on the ground. The suspects then fled with the stolen goods.

Common robbery:

Bryanston: On Sunday March 7, 2010, at approximately 1pm a woman was walking near the intersection of Cottesmore and Bryanston Drive when she was suddenly approached by an unknown male who demanded her cellphone he grabbed it and ran off.

Housebreaking and theft:

Ferndale: On Tuesday March 9, 2010, at approximately 8am a residence was broken into on the corners of Burke and Bond Streets. The premises had been left locked and secure. On returning home, the owner found that they had forced the front door open to gain access and found that suspects had stolen TV’s and computer equipment.

During the late morning hours of Saturday March 6, 2010, a residence was broken into in Elgin Avenue. The premises was left locked and secure, when the owner returned he found a white Mercedes Benz parked inside his property, while the owner was phoning the police, the Mercedes drove off. The owner then discovered that his sliding door was forced open, and TV’s, computer equipment and a playstation were stolen.

Blairgowrie: During the day of Wednesday March 10, 2010, a residence was broken into at the corners of Barkston and Selkirk Avenues. The premises had been left locked and secure. Upon the return of the owner he found the door was damaged to gain entry. A variety of household appliances were stolen.

Bryanston: On Friday March 5, 2010, a residence was left locked and secure in Poplar Street. Later the owner received a call from her neighbour, informing her that suspects were breaking into her house. On her arrival she noticed that the gate had been damaged, as well as a window was broken. Computers were stolen. The neighbour told her that a white Mercedes Benz with five male suspects were seen leaving her premises.

Kensington B: On Tuesday March 9, 2010, between 12 noon and 1pm a residence was broken into in Frere Street. The premises were left locked and secure. When the owner returned she found that a window had been broken, and TV’s and computer equipment was stolen.

During the afternoon hours of Friday March 5, 2010, a residence was broken into in Adderley Street. The residence was left locked and secure. Upon the owner’s return she found that the back doors had been broken to gain access. A variety of electronic appliances were stolen as well as jewellery.

Theft of motor vehicles:

Ferndale: During the early evening hours of Tuesday March 9, 2010, a vehicle was stolen from the corners of Republic and Malibongwe Roads.

On Thursday March 11, 2010, at approximately 11am, a vehicle was stolen from a parking area in Pretoria Avenue.

Bryanston: During the early evening hours of Tuesday March 9, 2010, a vehicle was stolen from the corners of Peter Place and Karen Streets.

During the night on Monday March 8, 2010, a truck was stolen from the corners of William Nicole and Bryanston Drives.

Strijdompark: On Wednesday March 10, 2010, between 10am and 10.30am a vehicle was stolen from Remblok Street.

During the morning on Tuesday March 9, 2010, a vehicle was stolen from Susan Street.

Theft out of motor vehicles:

Strijdompark: On Wednesday March 10, 2010, at approximately 6.15am, a vehicle was broken into where parked in Malibongwe Road. Vehicle was left locked and secure, and when the driver returned he found a window forced open and luggage and sun glasses were stolen.
