Northern Joburg Media celebrates first Birthday

Northern Joburg Media hosted a first birthday event at JET at the Dome in Northriding on August 24, to thank our readers, advertisers, media contacts for their support over the last year since we have been running ten community news websites.

400 guests were invited, which included; celebrities, business owners, charity representatives, paramedics, polices officers, members of the community as well as some of our readers who won tickets in our competition.

Guests arrived dressed in cocktail wear with a touch of blue or orange Northern Joburg Media’s signature colours, all carrying pet food, blankets, toys or coats to be donated to the SPCA.

“On behalf of SPCA Randburg I would like to thank you most sincerely for making us the beneficiary of the enormous amount of pet products collected at the Northern Joburg Media First Birthday Party. Wow, I cannot tell you how very grateful we are to receive a donation of this size! It will go a long way towards helping us to ensure that our animals continue to receive all they need while they wait to find new homes. We are extremely thankful to each and every person who contributed” said Nicole Nuppenau of SPCA, Randburg.

The entrance was lined with Ferrari’s and a red carpet, on entering the cocktail room guests were treated to a variety of cocktails courtesy of Flair as well as Brutal Fruits and Castle Lites sponsored by SAB.

Tantalizing Taste Events catered at the event and served a variety of exquisite canapés throughout the evening. The MCs for the evening were Edith Venter and Mandy Rhodes.
As a thank you gift to our MCs Minuteman Press, Cresta created beautiful canvases for Edith and Mandy.

Starting off the evening’s entertainment were Alexandra and Isabella Snyman, two sisters from Fourways, aged 15 and 12, who have been entertaining audiences for the past six years. Their repertoire ranging from contemporary to operatic pieces have allowed them to perform at corporate, social and local government functions.

A delicious selection of desserts were served after the mains prepared by It’s Thyme. Then Cameron Bruce and his band took to the stage, Cameron Bruce made it to the Top Ten of the South African leg of the popular Reality TV show ‘Idols’ in 2009 when he was just 17.

After the set by Cameron Bruce and band it was time for the Advertising charity auction, which was hosted by Rob Whitely, through the auction R10 050 was raised all of which will be donated to the South African Guide Dogs Association.

“On behalf of the SA Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind I wish to extend our sincerest thanks and appreciation to Danielle Dooley and Northern Joburg Media for a wonderful evening, and we are thrilled with your initiative to raise funding for the association too!"

"I trust that there will be many more birthdays to follow for NJM and may you and your company be blessed in future”, said Pieter van Niekerk of The South African Guide Dogs Association.

Then it was time for the massive birthday cake branded with Northern Joburg Media’s logo created by Catering 4 U.

I would like to thank everyone for celebrating our first birthday with us and for your generous support in bringing dog food, blankets and bedding for the animals at the SPCA; when we all unite to support a charity the donations are indeed abundant.

Though our advertising charity auction we managed to raise R10 050, which will all be donated to the South African Guide Dog Association. Thank you to our bidders, your support enables SAGDA to give the gift of independence, mobility, companionship and dignity to more visually and physically disabled people in South Africa!

Throughout the evening over 50 spot prizes were handed out in the lucky draw. After the formalities DJ Lyle Masters performed entertaining guests for the rest of the evening. Guest all received a goodie bag on their way out.
