Members of the St Thomas’ Church in Linden were treated to a musical quiz evening held in the Church’s main hall last Friday evening.
The event, hosted by Sue Cock, wife of National Symphony Orchestra conductor Richard Cock, saw five teams of six members each pitting their musical skills against one another in the hope of emerging victorious!
Cock, a legend in her own right in the local classical music circles, displayed every bit of her vast talent as she stroked the ivories on the piano like a modern day Richard Clayderman while asking a variety of questions in a number of categories. A spirit of friendly rivalry characterised the event and although some teams lacked singing talent, the dancing and theatrical antics of team members made up for it.
As the evening progressed and the questions became more challenging, teams were forced to come up with innovative ways to gain bonus points. These ranged from dancing the Charlston, to assisting fellow teammates remember the words to various numbers. The overall winners were a team named Fudge whose members wasted no time in performing a victory dance!
