Radio 2000 and The Sports Trust celebrates 97 Days to 2010 FIFA World Cup
Radio 2000 as the SABC’s Official 2010 Radio Station has partnered with Sports Trust in celebrating 97 Days to the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Friday March 5, however, in conjunction to celebrating the kick off to the FIFA World Cup, Radio 2000 and Sports Trust has launched a Soccer Boots Campaign, a corporate social initiative in providing soccer boots to under privileged talented and passionate youngsters.
The Sports Trust is an independent organization that was jointly established by the private and public sectors in 1994 to help fund the development of sport across all disciplines, benefiting all sectors of our population from the previously disadvantaged communities in South Africa.
The Sports Trust continues to play a vital role in the reconstruction and development of South Africa in the area of sport and Radio 2000 is proud to be associated with the Sports Trust as it is widely recognized that sport is a key element to the improvement of health and lifestyle, a deterrent to crime and a tool of unification for the nation.
Join Radio 2000 as the Soccer Boots Drive culminates in a day of festivities at the SABC Radio Park Foyer between 1pm and 2pm. SABC First Citizens are encouraged to bring old useable soccer boots on Friday or sponsor a new pair of boots for R180.00. Linda Buthelezi and Andre Arendse will be present and First Citizens will be able to shoot goals against the Legends and stand in line to win amazing prizes whilst entertainment will be supplied by Winnie Khumalo.
Linda Buthelezi former Bafana Bafana midfielder, nicknamed “Mercedes Benz”, got his first pair of boots at the age of 16, taking him from grass-roots player to world-class performer.
