Expanded social benefits roll out
Johannesburg’s Expanded Social Package is to be rolled to the residents of the northern part of Johannesburg from early May. This package caters for all residents who have a monthly income of income of R3 360 and less and gives relief to qualifying residents on rates and the price of water and electricity.
According to Cllr Laurette van Zijl this expanded social package has been available for the past year, but was not readily available for residents in the northern suburbs due to technical reasons. “I am very pleased that my efforts to get a local office have succeeded as I believe that all resident should get the same benefits from the City”, she added.
All residents are invited to an informative meeting on Tuesday May 4, 2010 at 7pm at the Windsor East Recreation Centre in Viscount Avenue; corner George in Windsor East to get the details of the package and to find out how to apply. This meeting will be in the time slot of the WAG meeting which usually takes place then.
Owners or managing agents of blocks of flats in which qualifying residents live are also urged to attend the meeting as they will have to provide such resident with certain documentation.
Details: Cllr Laurette van Zijl at 082-330-0593.
